my laptop is broken since early september.

the temporary replacement is only suitable for the absolute basics like writing, a little browsing (and not to much of that) and does not work with my photo negative scanner. it's a shame.

i am done with the first half of my internship, next half is from february to april, so i'll be stressed out there as hell.

i will probably have to move some time soon because for the past few weeks living with these flatmates wasn't changing my mood for the good.

this year's christmas presents came early. i have a new lovely toy & am looking forward for a bit more freetime (hopefully this weekend) to get to know it even better. it's a nikon coolpix L110.

i promisse to upload stuff a bit more regularly to this blog. because i somehow managed to upload things to my german blog way often and easier. which is also a shame. let's start with some culinary related pictures of the past two months (:

this brilliant book called walls notebook is such a neat idea, i fear i might just do the very same with stuttgart or berlin. just for me and friends & the fun of it. the. said something very adequate about it:

it was a busy term and cooking food was not my major activity. unfortunatelly. but before i forget! there still was a lot of lovely food in the last two months i didn't mention here at all. time to do that:

^ mini pizza on toast: toast the bread, rub it with garlic, put nice things on it & cover the whole beauty with cheese. bake it until the cheese melted & everything is done. so simple and so delicious!

whenever i have one to five pictures left on a film that i really want to be devoloped as quickly as possible, i go on the balcony & spend the last pictures on the neat stuff growing there. at the moment there are tomatoes, beans, verveine, onions, cress, basil, rosmary, chive, and other lovely things. i already checked: our's is the greenest balcony in the whole building, if not the whole dorm "village".
sometimes it's nice to have a green place to go to without leaving the house, don't you think?

i am getting itchy feet & would love to be on the road, but the next two weeks it will just be sitting in the library. 5 term papers ahead, but i have a good feeling about this. and maybe, after that, there will be some little travelling. i hope things match & i can make this little trip eastwards with an old schoolfriend! in the meantime i will be busy a lot, but i am so glad we had a little time off the past few days. yesterday croq went to the zoo, we took a lot of pictures - i am so excited to get them back!

30g ginger, chopped
25g cane sugar
juice of 3 limes
1 bottle of carbonated water
1-2 twigs of lime balm

- puree chopped ginger with sugar and lime juice, put the mixture in a bottle
- add the lime balm twigs
- fill with carbonated water
- put in the fridge for about 2 hours

i happened to realise how few pigeons there were in london. it seemed as if there were a few but most birds one could see were seagulls. i like them a bit better, i have to admit. for such a huge city london seemed relatively clean. the small number of pigeons seem to fit in that picture for me.

today our project for an advanced seminar on linguistics begins. it's about english as a lingua franca & i know that for the next two weeks we will only live for this seminar. i don't like this thought too much, but i guess we still have to be thankful for the participants in our project, shooting starts this afternoon & i will bring some muffins as a little 'thank you'. it is the least i can do for having so nice participants & crew, right?

also i am really glad to announce that two days ago my diana mini lomo camera arrived & we are now waiting for the first films to be developed. i am seriously in love with that cute little thing, i swear.

let's just hope the results turn out the way i wanted them to, because i must admit handling this little piece of plastic isn't at all like handling a digital camera or "modern" analoge camera. well, we will see!

oh boy, another month gone without posting. what have i been doing in the meantime? well, first of all i was sick, then there was the first birthday of my nice, christmas of course & we went to scotland for almost two weeks. this was the longest time i spent offline in more than 5 years. wow.

scotland (& the uk in general) have a massive snow problem, but for my terms this is nothing a proper winter service can't handle. i say that coming from south germany, where nobody would think of freaking out because of 2 or 3 inches of snow. public life here goes on with only minor troubles. although we liked it a lot i'm glad we're back home. this is a new year with some new starts & i am looking forward to making the best of it.

2oo9 for me was an important year. a lot of things changed & for most of that things i'd say it changed to the better.
- i got a job that showed me i'm on the right way. working with kids turned out to be the right thing.
- four months ago i became a vegetarian & stick to my decision. i feel a lot healthier.
- finally i got my life and me back in order, i' m way more confident with the things i do & want.

2o1o is going to be another important year for me, there are huge plans for me to be done & i'm looking forward to that.
- eating even more healthier, plans to make even more food on my own are already worked on.*
- keep up that creativity i have going right now.
- book project #1: with monsieur, in process
- book project #2: cooking book, in process
- photo project #1: with matthias
- photo project #2: with phil
- various diy-jewelery because i'm sick of buying stuff anybody could buy
- postcard project
- also finally getting my own etsy shop

i plan to go to london next month, also i would love to go to berlin again soon. not only for book project #1, but for staying as healthy and creative as i am right now.

furthermore i promise to keep this blog here as busy as my first blog (in german), which has already a little audience. if you can speak german feel welcome to visit me there & leave a comment or two (:

you may have noticed by now i seriously am a fan of dressing up & visiting theme parties. maybe that's why i'm still really sad i missed halloween because of a term paper.

just one day after our roaring twenties party my flatmates and me had an appointment for a theme based photo shooting. i think you can easily guess the theme (;

in less than two weeks there is going to be another theme party over at a friend's house: gods & godly creatures. luckily for me we can chose any culture we want. i already chose my costume & of course i'm looking forward to it. voodoo culture is quite stylish. and attractive not only because most of the people are obviously more likely to chose characters from greek or indian mythology.

also i am thinking about the next fancy dress party we could have. i like the idea of literature. characters, authors, themes. i could easily be the white rabbit from 'alice's adventures in wonderland', but i think i might just stick with my original idea: the caterpillar.

besides being angry with my laptop the last week i was busy with preparations for our roaring twenties birthday party. a lot of people didn't show up as they actually promised, but we still were more than 50 people, all dressed up with fancy clothes. i'm glad everyone took the theme party dresscode serious enough to make this a huge success which we will totally repeat - and i am so looking forward to this already!

where have the last two weeks gone? since i finished that term paper of doom time ran by so quickly... so what have i been doing the past few weeks? besides working in the school & trying to catch up with the texts for the current semester not too much, it seems.

BUT there's good news as well. last week i got myself new spare parts for my buttonmaker. oh, how i have missed that! so it's not only reading, sleeping, sewing that special dress for the roaring twenties party (pictures to follow) - i also made loads of new buttons that people ordered & tinkering around. i am thinking about an etsy account again, hm... but first i'd have to finally bring all that stuff together & check out the financial parts.

i'm so glad my buttonmaker is busy again! :D
since my friends buy so much of the badges i might get along fine until new year's eve which we will spend in edinburgh AND be able to get my tattoo in the next three months. wouldn't that be awesome?

so besides all the stress: a lot to catch up with, but at the moment it's fun & i am glad about the way things are.

oh, and while we're at it (yeeee, i am going back to writing my paper in a minute... ^^), there are two lovely pieces of jewelry i wanted to upload a while ago.

a friend of mine gave me this beautiful piece of hair decoration some years ago. the thing is: i am so afraid of losing it while wearing it, that i never managed to go out with such a lovely thing. i am thinking about removing the barret part & attach it to a necklace. any opinions or recommodations on that, anyone?

i usually am not that colourful person. sewing a green dress, that's quite new in regards to colour, but when i was in paris early september this year i just fell in love with that cute owl brooch. isn't it neat?

semester started & i have been busy with finishing my term papers the last weeks, but on sunday my life is going to start again. i am so looking forward to that! besides getting my cooking project started, working with kids & writing i really didn't accomplish too much - and that is going to change. halloween is coming up (uuuh, costumes! :D) & we are having a roaring twenties party in 3 weeks & it's going to be awesome! as soon as i finished the termpaper from hell i am going to finish sewing my green* dress for that party, the decoration & testing the last parts of the buffet. photos coming soon (;

in the meantime, fleamarket season ended for this year & we found loads of lovely stuff. more pictures coming up soon.

also, i will need to find some time to chose what to wear to the dress i am about to made. i already found perfect earings, but deciding for a necklace is going to be though (; (i wish all problems would be that easy to solve)

ok, so it really is autumn now. building caves out of blankets, baking cookies, eating soup & spending a lot of time with books feels so right. a lot of people are coming back to campus, the city doesn't look like a ghost town anymore & the bandwidth in the dorm is way too busy to get anything online done. oh boy. the semester is about to start, there's this smell in the air: autumn leaves and chestnuts. i am off to make a tarte flambee with pumpkin instead of bacon. have a nice wednesday!

what a weekend! i remember telling my boyfriend two years ago when we got together that i would never clean up his mess. but since i am a nice girl i at least helped him every time he needed help. this weekend we got a lot of stuff done, some pictures are finally framed and the lovely tavern sign is on the wall in the kitchen. i sure loved the redecoration part more than i loved the cleaning up the cellar part. why exactly are boys so messy? or is it just the ones i meet? if he ever stops being messy i see nothing standing in the way for moving in with him and having loads of cats and dogs. i am looking forward to that.
also, i finally had some time for tinkering & wrapping up gifts. there were a lot of birthdays and there are still a lot to come in the next weeks. just a little sneak in order not to spoil any one by now:
i like writing letters to friends and also letting them know i took some time and consideration doing so - and when i realized i was out of envelopes this lovely tutorial by amy karol from angry chicken i saw recently came in handy. getting mail is awesome. i love the idea of my friends being happy by getting a personally designed letter or envelope.

i like how they turned out. although i must admit i did use some scissors. thanks for the idea, amy karol! :D

improving the cozy-factor in my dormroom, taking a nice bath in "forest grass green" water, successfully palming vegetarian food off on my boyfriend, test runs for a big dinner in a few weeks (pumpkin soup with red beet root, red beet root soup with chilies, mango creme with a caramel crust on a mascarpone-cream-joghurt with lime & ginger. success all along the line).

off to paris. the weather obviously won't be too good, but with a light smell of fall in the air i can totally cope with that as long as it's not raining cats and dogs.

but at least now i have a good excuse for bringing my huge suitcase xD

i really hope it will be just cloudy so our planning won't be in vain. except for the catacombes de paris all of the activities planned are outside. cameras don't like rain too much either. (although cimetière du père-lachaise probably will look really good in the rain) but since different weather services tell different things, i am still looking forward to this & hope the best. paris, here we come!

ok, so one week ago i stumpled upon a little declaration of love from 1917. from 1917! i can't believe it lastet that long. is it because other people thought it is cute, too? or is it that the responsible people did not consider it to be such a huge ugly thing that needs to be renovated immediatelly? i don't know.

the inscription says:

ok, so that's how people in tübingen, back in 1917 declared their love? by sneaking into to girl's bathroom on castle tübingen & scrating pet name-messages into the wall? huh. on the one hand weird, but on the other hand really cute.

what a month! the first run of helping my parents to move is done: renovating the new house as far as neccessary to move in & providing my mom with food while renovating (yummie, pudding rolls! i'm a genius sometimes...), because she is way too busy to cook or bake or eat properly. now it's time for a little vacation. in a few days we'll wake up in paris! i'm so excited! :D
today we'll do the last shopping for the trips in paris we planned (thanks to alec's nice suggestions & explaining). saturday or bags will be packed, because we're too busy helping my new flatmate moving on sunday & by monday midday we should be on our way to my parents in law, no time to pack your bags then (;
there are going to be loads and loads of photographs when i return :P

and while we are at it, i'd like to show some more pictures from the last days.

i had some fun making this pictures, i improved my photographing skills a lot in the past few weeks. it's amazing what you can do even with a little, old camera. knowing that editing pictures is easy enough for anybody who can handle a digital camera, i feel the need of doing something special when taking pictures. photomanipulation has never been that easy, so what i am going to try in the next few weeks (except for the time in paris) is simple this: playing around with some analogue film photography. i already had my fun with polaroid cams, coming up next are lomography and of course some simple working with a single-lens reflex camera. i still have the opportunity for a nikon f55, but when i told my mom, she said my parents still have an "old single-lens reflex camera" that they wouldnt use anymore since they got themselves a digital one. i thought 'hey why not, if there's still films for that thing" & agreed to borrow it and experiment a bit before buying my own one. besides the fact that their camera turned out to be not that old after all (it's a canon eos 3oo v, oh boy!), my parents are now considering to give the camera to me. or at least the body, and maybe i am going to get another pair of lenses for my birthday.

i am still amazed. by the prices of photographic accessories, the bounteousness of my parents & the nice sound the shutter makes. tomorrow i can pick up my first developed film (colour, though), in the meantime i am about filling a black and white film. i am so excited ^^

i really don't get a lot done these days. renovating two houses just takes a lot of time. too much time to do anything but cooking, helping my mom out where i can & taking a few pictures when i take little break. but just little ones.

i will help my mom next week one last time, then my boyfriend & i are going to paris for a few days :D i am really looking forward to this trip, but i know that two days after we return my parents will move & need to help them again. until then the biggest parts of renovating in the new house must be done. i just don't see when i am supposed to write all these papers...
